The Electricity Workshop
Our electricity workshop takes a different approach to the Y4/Y6 curriculum which often covers circuits and their components. As a supplement to this learning, we, instead, focus on what electricity is and how charge is created.
We introduce the idea of electrons in everything around us and how they can be manipulated to make charge.
Starting with various and myriad balloon experiments. After these experiments (and suggestions for more) we go on to using the Van de Graff Generator. First explaining how charge is made before lots of fun demonstrations of its effect. Shooting lightning in the room, hair raising experiments and even shooting electricity at each other.
It always gets an amazing reaction!
