Maths Circus and Mathmagics!
Maths Circus is a challenging, active and fun workshop combining Circus and Maths, and a great resource for teachers too. This workshop is a great way to improve your pupils’ numeracy skills and develop some dynamic new teaching techniques along the way.
Mathmagics! is an inspiring set of interactive stories, facts, legends and tricks designed to amaze, entertain and bring maths to life for all ages and abilities.
In a two day Maths Circus event the students firm up on number bonds, master multiplication tables once considered unmasterable, reinforce their understanding of factors, common factors, multiples, primes, place values (even simple equations) and generally have a great time in the process.
Maths Circus not only develops maths skills but also encompasses and encourages team-work, creativity and expressiveness too. It is ideal for years 6 and 7, though it works excellently with other ages too.
David brings together years of experience as an actor, creator, presenter, workshop-designer and leader and facilitator (globally) in high energy, fun and flexible Mathmagics presentations…! They can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities and always go down superbly with teachers, pupils and family audiences alike. He’s performed in schools of all sizes and types, festivals and beyond…!
The day can also be structured however you wish. A common format is to launch day with a full assembly for all – to whet people’s appetites and prepare them for a fantastic day ahead – then work with smaller groups across the day, choosing the activities to suit their ages and abilities – before closing the day with another full assembly and closing acts for all
By the end of the workshop, students will:
- Gain a greater understanding of mathematical concepts, and numeracy skills.
- Have the chance to work in a team, engage in activities, and express themselves.
This workshop can be adapted for all ages.
