Alternative Provisions
Welcome to the “one Stop” alternative provision & Wellbeing Community Hub – The Spectrum Place Charity, opening soon in Milton Keynes, with nationwide outreach of provisions available to boo through Immersive Experiences SEND team. A dedicated space that brings together professionals, families, and individuals impacted by “Low Support needs” ASD, Neurodivergence; often co-occurring mental health challenges. This hub and outreach team serve as a single point of access for any services and support available in your local area.
With a vision to provide comprehensive, integrated, and timely support to families. Partnerships and link working with relevant local charities enable us to better support the individual needs of young people
parent/carers & support the overwhelmed services across the UK.
Alternative provisions and programmes will include educational workshops and signposting for families, alternative educati
on for CYP (with a STEM focus), mental health & wellbeing and creative arts projects and programmes.
UK SEND Ofsted report areas of need:
- High number of children & young people being diagnosed with ASC – Many presenting as “low Support need” – Currently little to no provision
- Increasing demand in services & support for children, young people & families, post, during and pre diagnosis
- As demands increase, there is an urgent need to identify and address gaps in service & provision
What the new hub will provide
We plan to establish a welcoming hub where families can access information, guidance, and services related to ASD, Asperger’s, PDA and ADHD. Somewhere for families to relax with access to sensory room, immersive education experiences, IT equipment & social clubs for their CYP and parent/ career peer support.Working closely with other local support teams, charities & services offering them a home within the hub so that services & users alike have all the information in one place & a “safe” place to go to support them during appointments that also offers respite. Supporting PACA, CAMHS & the LA to able to offer services including alternative provisions for CYP with special interests lead sessions & workshops whilst parents work with support teams & have some respite in alongside offering social opportunities for them in an environment that supports the mental wellbeing of the whole family. Work with local services offering EOTAS & EHCP options that can support CYP. Extending educational opportunities & working closely with their School/education provider. The hub would provide a holistic approach to CYP & familie
s focusing on sensory & STEM. Introducing never been seen before programmes specifically developed to support those who are struggling in classroom settings or require more creative and child-led learning environment within a
bespoke location focussed on sensory
needs & avoiding escalating EBSA.
