Ice Worlds

Ice Worlds

IceWorldsIIIce Worlds

A tour of the icy landscapes of our Solar System, in particular those of our home planet Earth, exploring the critical relationship between ice and life.

Earth is a dynamic planet with a changing global climate. One of the most dramatic changes occurs annually as ice turns to water and then to ice once again. The volume of ice in the polar regions also determines sea levels and the amount of solar energy absorbed by the planet.

The interplay between ice and life on Earth raises questions about the ice worlds of our Solar System. Could they harbour microscopic life and can they help us understand Earth's changing polar habitats?
